EITI Launches new Lineworker and Substation Programs

March 2010 — EITI announces two new electric utility industry programs that will be delivered at training sites in Oklahoma and Texas.


This intensive 2-week certification program is ideal for both novices and journeymen who are new to the substation environment. This program covers industry best practices with a focus on improving safety, efficiency and reliability. Course topics include: Schematics, Troubleshooting, Protection Skills, High Voltage Safety and Operations, Limits of Approach, Grounding, Live Line Tools, Ops and Switching, Lockout, Arc Flash, Power Transformers, Circuit Breakers, Voltage Regulators, Capacitors, Reactors.

* Programs delivered at Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, OK, and Hill College Texas Wesleyan University Campus in Burleson, TX.


This intensive 8-week certification program is ideal for those wanting a career as an Electrical Lineman. This program covers Electrical Theory, Safety and Safe Work Procedures, Climbing, Policies and Regulations, Tools and Instruments, Equipment, Rigging, Overhead Distribution, URD Distribution, and more. This program covers both academic and practical skills development. Upon successful completion, students will be prepared for on-the-job apprenticeship opportunities.
